It's 20 or 25 years later and I'm STILL listening to mining melancholy and disco train and the like. It really was something special, and then the algorithm sent me here. This vid was a great love letter to a very talented musciian and his work. I love it.

My theory is those scenes happen during the final battle as Lucas is trying to reach out to his brother. Each background, though not in order, represent a moment in Claus' death and eventual rebirth. The creepy red background is the exact moment of his death, or maybe represent the moment of the fall that leads to his death.

Banjo-Kazooie did not suffer from this, neither Conker's bad fur day. They both also felt much more "Full" in comparison to Mario 64. Mario 64 is a great platformer, iconic. But that's mostly all that was to it. Banjo had nice humor, more vibrant vibes. Conker was the top Mature listed game, with great multiplayer. But Mario 64, 1st Banjo and Conker are for me the top 3 of N64 for sure. Smash bros in top 5, Starfox also. Golden eye, not for me, but I know a lot of guys who worshipped it. Gauntlet was another big one, very fun co-op.

I didn’t have an N64 as a kid, but my cousin did. The only chance I ever got to play Super Mario was when we would hang out together and play his copy, and even then I would watch him play more often than play it myself, so I pretty much knew all the techniques to beat the game and I ended up associating it with the fun of hanging out with my cousin without feeling anything off or unsettling about it. One time however he lent me the console in exchange for my Sega Genesis so I got to play it by myself for a month or so, and it hit me like a ton of bricks when I realized how alone you feel in the game while playing it in my room by myself at night. The infinite stairs were by far the creepiest part for me, and looking back I think I did actually have a nightmare or two.

For the problem is that thamey waited too long for the sequel to be made. The problem is not the game mechanic but the brand awareness. Mario is very branded and well known. Let's be honest those games are not sold because they are good golfing gar but because they are good MARIO golfing games. They waited so long for the sequel that fans were literally too old to be the ones who would have made it a success. I myself have completely passed through it, and when I knew it existed I bought it immediately. But it was years later! And the game is not enough by itself to be a hit. Let's be honest, dark dawn is good but not transcendent. I found it too easy and too short. The story was a bit lacking and the game doesn't really end. It basically stops midway. So that's why they fucked up. They should have done a sequel a lot earlier or an improved remake.

80% did not scare me, sure typical trying to live and beat the game, but as a kid I just wanted to play. To me it was mostly easy fun. Star Fox 64 was challenging fun.

The only unsettling truth is that people like to ruin and desecrate anything that is revered. This is especially true if they don’t personally feel a connection or affinity whatever it is. The greater something is, the more people nowadays enjoy destroying it.

  • @kakirosaurio

The problem with Dark Dawn is that it crashed its preestablished lore: new civilizations popped into existence rather than working with the previously established ones. At the end of GS2, The Wise one proposed a better plot for a sequel than what we had: civilization destroying itself thanks to alchemy, people fighting each other over power. Would've been interesting to have the old protagonists or their sons to solve political conflicts, prevent a world war. Heck, the new civilizations indeed could've been properly introduced if they were stated as long forgotten places that came back to life thanks to the golden sun rising, with few descendants left that barely know anything about their past, just for the sake of exploring new places. But heck, work with the old places too. Explore the elemental clans more rather than introducing new elements. They didn't even bother to work with Anemos as an explorable location, and kicked Dullahan out of the temple.

buzzbound is a simple answer in the future, giygas presumably took over buzz buzz went back in time to find ness, the boy who would defeat giygas, but he didnt go back in time long enough which places buzz buzz in an eerie and apocalyptic version of onett yadayadayada he finds giygas (who has taken over ness) and weakens him, finally going back in time long enough to find ness which basically causes earthbound

I loved Wild Arms since I saw it on a PS magazine page. I tasked my father to find it and bring it to me...and he did. 28 thousand Lire it was (around 15€ by now)... I played and completed it at the very least 10 times at 100%. Didn't knew anything else since I accidentally found WA3 on a shelf for 13€ and said "Oh crap...MINE!". I remember I kind of hated it at the start. Then, I have to concur, it's definitely the BEST JRPG I've ever played (yeah, never liked FF7, loved FF6 though) even if it was VERY long, took me around 80 hours on my first campaign and still over 60 with all characters already at level 100 on the second playthrough in NG+. Come on, you can have a sassy DRAGON as a megazord that transforms in a spaceship and you can use it in both forms in epic battles inside a spaghetti western fantasy world and it fits PERFECTLY! I knew about the 4th but couldn't find it anywhere but a few years after I did manage to get my hands on the 5th chapter...and it was a blast! Same environment, different story but just as epic as the predecessors...and quite some crying on my part involved as well on the ending... I was in vacation to England for the first time when I bought Wild Arms XF. Let me tell you: One of the BEST stories you might ever find in a JRPG. A bit complex on the political side and much more relegated to the fantasy than the western mood but still... SPOILER AHEAD: Breaking the God of Fear making it FEEL fear 'cause you keep on beating it was marvelous! PS4 came out...and I somehow found a WA4 copy on a random mall in an EXTREMELY small town. Bought it, completed it and yeah, still good and solid but definitely the weakest of all. In the end I never had the chance to play the 2nd instance of the series... I don't care about remakes...but I can assure you this: if Sony decides to put ANY of the games on Steam (I don't own any PS anymore and don't intend to), even vanilla with no retexture, even for an unreasonable price...I'd buy them one by one for 50 bucks each if needed.
